The Woolworth Building

Public Square, Watertown, NY

The Purcell-LECESSE JV design-build team renovated the Historic Woolworth Building located on Public Square in Watertown, NY. Sitting vacant for over eight years, this six-story building dates back to the early 1900’s. Floors two through six were converted to 50 apartments consisting of both one and two-bedroom units.  The building includes community space on the first floor along with storefront commercial/retail space and dedicated space for a museum, library, playroom, and on-site laundry.  Original elements were retained to capture the historic character of the building. Wood trim was refinished, the elevators refurbished and the original windows remain.
