O’Brien Hall University of Rochester

This design-build project consists of a 52,000 square foot, five-story, 148 bed residence hall and the related site work on the campus of the University of Rochester. The unit types in the building include 56 single, 28 double, and 8 semi-suite apartments, as well as 5 staff units. The first floor of the building was designed for common areas and community space for the students and includes a laundry room, performing arts room, lounges and bike storage. The building contains a mechanical penthouse and a partial basement. The project also includes a tunnel connecting the new residence hall to the existing basement level of Anderson and Wilder Halls. The project has achieved LEED Gold Certification. The project was awarded on a very aggressive twelve-month design and construction schedule.
